Excellent June 30, 2010 Richard A. Moore I have been using these daily since I got them a year ago. Work well, look good, seem well made and will probably last a long time. Fresh ground sea salt and fresh ground black pepper - wouldn't do without them.
Cobalt Peppermill May 23, 2010 Wendy L. Nahmias A kitchen necessity that is beautiful to use and admire. Color is just right for our decor. Thanks.
Does the Job April 16, 2010 V. Dawson (Maryland) This is a very nice pepper grinder in a sea of junk grinders. It feels solid and well designed in the hand. It is easy to set a fine or coarse grate and it keeps the setting. It is easy to fill and it looks nice on the table.
Almost Flawless March 8, 2010 Paul J. Langlois (Lake Forest, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What I like best about this pepper mill is its appearance. I think it's just the right size to use comfortably in the kitchen - and still looks good enough to place on the table. I purchased the Pesto color, which is somewhat unorthodox, but I really like it. The color is also handy on the counter top, it's hard for it to get lost.
It's not all about looks though, this pepper mill works better than any other I've ever owned. I wouldn't have written the review if not for its excellent performance. Other adjustable pepper mills don't seem to have much variance in their settings. With this model, you really can see the difference in the grind for each setting.
When I received the mill, I placed a piece of parchment paper down on a sheet pan. I ground some pepper on the course setting, then moved over a few inches and made a finer adjustment and ground more pepper. Did this several times, each dusting of pepper was finer than the one before. And the mechanism cleanly locks into place. No guesswork.
The mill allows you to effortlessly grind piles of pepper. This is a stark departure from other pepper mills I've used - which require quite a bit of work to grind out more than a tablespoon of pepper.
(Update) - My only gripe is that it leaves a nice dusting of pepper on the countertop after setting it down. I know I should shake it off before setting it on the counter - but it's enough to annoy me slightly. the other downside is that this mill is hard to operate with wet hands since there is no texturing.
A great find, thanks to helpful reviews on Amazon. Very happy with this purchase. I can't believe I'm writing such an excited review about such a rudimentary kitchen essential - but like any elegantly designed product, it can make your day.
The Last Peppermill I Will Ever Buy (I hope) February 16, 2010 Mary K. Clay (KY, USA) After leaving a review for my last failure of a peppermill, I ordered this solidly 5-star rated Vic Firth. I smiled the minute I opened the package. The shockingly fun paint houses a serious machine with a wonderful heft. I ran through the gamut of grind settings, and I am very impressed with the consistency of the grind and the smooth ease of operation. I know this beast will be grinding my pepper for years.
